Protein interacting with C kinase 1 (PICK1) is a post-synaptic density-95/discs large/zonula occludens-1 (PDZ) and Bin/Ampiphysin/Rvs (BAR)-domain containing protein. PICK1 is expressed at high levels in the brain, testis and is located at the perinuclear region as well as synapses of neurons. The PICK1 gene is located on the human chromosome 22q13.1.
Specificity
Anti-PICK1(C-terminal) specifically recognizes human,rat and mouse PICK1.
synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of rat PICK1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is highly conserved in mouse PICK1 (single amino acid substitution) and in human PICK1 (83% sequence identity).

Biochem/physiol Actions
Protein interacting with C kinase 1 (PICK1) plays a central role in a specific form of vesicular trafficking, modulation of presynaptic glutamate neurotransmission by targeting and anchoring glutamate receptors to specific synapses and synaptic plasticity. PICK1 is phosphorylated in response to protein kinase C α (PKCα) activation. The PICK1 binds to a large number of membrane proteins, including the glutamate receptors subunits α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid receptor (AMPAR), metabotropic glutamate receptor 7a (mGLUR7a) and the ephrin receptors to regulate their subcellular localization via the post-synaptic density-95/discs large/zonula occludens-1 (PDZ) domain. The Bin/Ampiphysin/Rvs (BAR) domain binds to lipids, mainly phosphoinositides, which are important for PICK1 regulation, synaptic targeting and trafficking of AMAP receptors. Mutations in the PICK1 PDZ domain inhibit the binding of PICK1 to PKCα.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phos­phate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Storage and Stability
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers,is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
